this is called "tracheotomy"

Thanks to Jonathan for telling me to just draw, and for inspiring the title. Always a pleasure, my friend.

hug the piano

Such a rough day at work. Anxiety and anger making it hard to sleep tonight. Trying to soothe the soul with a little art and music. I've had Emma Pollock's "Hug the Piano" song from her The Law Of Large Numbers album on repeat for the last two hours. Anyway, this was done in Corel Painter, as per usual, only this time the only thing I used was the thick oily impasto brush. I was having fun with the hair.

Sick today with a yucky headache, and felt like painting. Just a quick ink and watercolor sketch in Corel Painter.

Some serious MS Paint action during lunch. Legitimized by Picnik. Ta, duckies.

Quick sketch painting done with watercolor in Corel Painter, impasto oil scrub on canvas for background. For Jonathan.

(P.S. Yeesh! I'm rusty at portraits - especially on the computer. I owe you a better one.)

If you can't tell, I had a bad day. I felt like doing something a bit more visceral. This is what came out.

this is not a happy camper

Just a random sketch this evening; I couldn't think of anything else to draw, so I just started doodling, and this is what showed up.

Done in Corel Painter (surprise,'s the only good program I have on this PC.)

a portrait! (ish)

I was trying for a serious artistic attempt, and because my old elementary school chum Danielle sent me a message this week, I figured I'd commemorate it with a sketch portrait of her. I'm just sorry to stay I'm still kind of obsessed with this crayon/watercolor thing going on in Corel Painter at the moment. Anyway, here's to honor one of my best recess buddies of ages past. Cheers! :)

Ok, this one's new...

I have been toying around with the idea of illustrating my writings. This is a painting with a quote taken from a poem of mine. Just playing around in painter, and it seemed to fit the mood. I'm so into color right now.

Conglomeration (Read: Dumping Junk)

Andy - old WoW buddy of mine. Also a crazy drunken Australian.

Boba Fett Birthday card for different Andy.

David Gilmour, helloo.

A liger... it's pretty much my favorite animal... :P
(I just have to say that for how sketchy this one is, I am super proud of it - it was done in Facebook's Graffiti app with ROLLERBALL MOUSE. YEAH.)

I decided to turn this post into a dumping ground for the assorted (asordid? lol) digital creative glop of mine. So if you can bear with me in posting some not-new works, I'ma get right on doing that now...

Strange Hat

I know I'm not updating as often as promised, but this will get better, I'm hoping. Things have been pleh lately and I'm definitely not feeling as creatively inclined as I would like. Probably because I'm super out of practice and rusty. Anyway, here is a strange hat to make up for it. Done in Corel Painter, with the waxy crayon brush and various watercolor effects. I like using the crayon as a base under the watercolors, because the crayon stays vivid and shows through whatever watercolor effects I'm using. Anyway, yes. Random doodle.

This Is Not A Cupcake

So my new year's resolution for 2010 is to draw a picture every day. It doesn't matter what, as long as I draw SOMETHING. This is where I'm keeping all of those drawings. I have no clue what it going to end up here. I think that is pretty exciting.
