this is not just another logo
it's a logo for where i work! done super-quick, for a project that needed it. this was take 2. i will play around with more ideas in the future, and tweak this so it looks waaaay more cleaned up. (there was like, no kerning going on with this one. there will be cleaned-up kerning in the next versions.)

this is twinkly!
i've been pinteresting with the best of them lately. especially quotes and drawing and such. and recipes that look irresistible. don't ever go on pinterest if you're dieting. it's futility. anyway, my problem with pinterest quotes is that i can never find my favorite ones... so i made my own! i always have fun playing with type, or in this case, handwriting. one of my favorite quotes by roald dahl. (let's be honest, all of his quotes are favorites.)
and here's one i'd done the night before... i've been taking my time with a whole series of quotes about poetry that i'll post at some point.

this is ava in pigtails...
this is another in-progress piece that i wanted to share, i'm painting a photo of my best friend brittany's baby girl ava, in pigtails! i have been dying for ava to have long enough hair for pigtails since she was born, so i adore this photo of her, and really wanted to capture that little-kid feeling, with bright primary color accents, a little more whimsical brushstrokes, with abstract colors. it's not done yet, but i'm pretty pleased with how it's turning out. figured i'd share!
here's a better little close-up of what i've got so far...

this is soooo five years ago
while overhauling and cleaning my bedroom this week (whilst not on my deathbed,) i found my sketchbook from 2006 - the one with the alien chick in it! i was excited. and since i got my scanner/printer/copier set up finally (it was a christmas present. it's embarrassing that it took this long) i can share a few of them! lucky you. here you go... this is progress...
the digital watercolor brush in corel painter is tricky, but i wanted to use it instead of the tint brush, because it's good for getting a "flat," blended look (the blending is not done, obviously, although i'm pretty pleased with how his head has progressed) without it feeling posterized, which i don't want. i want it to be a painting. although i might try a more posterized feel on this image somewhere down the road. i like corel painter a lot, because the brush layout, and using it with a tablet, feels a lot more instinctive and intuitive for an analog artist than the adobe programs do, but maybe that's just because i haven't used adobe enough for it to be instinctive yet. anyway, wanted to show a bit more.

this is a sneak peak
...of the latest painting i'm working on. i'm super excited about it. i think i want to do a series like this of my favorite musicians. +50 if you know who this is. if you don't, you're not very observant, and you don't listen to good music. LOL
