this is not old

not even a little bit. this is brand new today. from a picture taken today. doesn't get much brand-newer than that. self-portrait done in corel painter. it's even got my scar in there. awwww, precious.

this is not drawn by me

it is, however, colored by me. storied by Ben Bailey (follow him on the twitter @616Earth), drawn and inked by Taylor Stauft (also tweeting at @TaylorStauft).

done for Warren Ellis's Three-Panel Open - hopefully we see it up there on his site soon! i'll keep you posted.

this is not historically accurate

...it's teaser of an illustration i'm working on because of a random twitter conversation involving first sentences for books that have yet to be written. my friend @jonthepoole had posted "Jimmy Carter relentlessly pushed the slender blade ever deeper into Josh Groban's throat. "Say hi to Stalin for me," he growled." and immediately this image came to my mind, and i had to draw it. sometimes the best time to draw is when you're randomly inspired by something.

this was one of those times. finished product tomorrow, or sometime this weekend!

this is not my current outfit

...but it was yesterday's outfit. i love technology. it lets you go from this:

to this:

in a matter of minutes. i figured it was time i updated my profile pics/avatars. notice this one includes the top of my scar.

sketched on copy paper with a sharpie. photographed with my blackberry. (didn't even scan it!) colored & edited in corel painter essentials.

i should get serious about finishing those illustrator tutorials, instead of just screwing around on it all the time. corel painter skills aren't that marketable. illustrator skills are. naturally.

anyway, that's it for today, kids.

this is another self portrait...

...to commemorate my new pair of glasses. (they're boring and black, and perfect.) painted/drawn in corel painter, and then tweaked with a bit of photoshop to fix coloring. chels in may. the end!
